Hi, Hellooo –
Apa khabar, kawan?
This comes a little late, but better late than never, right?
This is a recap, a little throwback.
Here’s a rewind to December 2018 where we had our very first gig
– our kind of gig that is.
It was our debut as an art-exhibitionist, a story teller and a creative-preneur.
We had our chance to be all of these at one place – at TEKNIK5.0 by @neueartisans.
-
Fun fact
–
Projek SembangSembang is a creative bureau,
we are small,
we are only a team of two, but we have big dreams.
We know what we want to do, and we know we can.
We tell people we are graphic designers,
but we are more than that.
We are more than pretty graphics to look at,
we are content creators too.
Half of us makes all things pretty while the other half,
well, she writes using illustrations.
What most don’t know is that, we never really thought we would end up doing this, especially since we started of studying Architecture in the first place.
Oh, yes,
not too long ago (quite long ago really, haha),
we thought we would end up being Architects.
Oh, and yes, BOTH of us studied Architecture.
But of course, life is a funny thing. Every path we take is a journey.
We wouldn’t ever have thought that we would be doing this for a living
–
and doing this, will always be the best decision we have made in our lives
(so far).
Never would we ever regret the fact that we studied something else
and ended up doing something else,
because really,
without starting of studying Architecture in the first place,
we wouldn’t even have met each other!
Something that we agreed most is that, being an Architecture student has helped discovered our potentials, talent and passion.
Back then, we love doing group assignments,
because we feel that when our brains get together,
it gets us a double-the-bomb outcome.
Half of us makes the research and draft up an engaging back story,
then comes the other half to complete our work with the best graphic there is,
of course always
–
using our style.
It is then that we feel that, hey, maybe, this is our calling.
Maybe, it’s time that we should do things we like and passionate about for a living.
So yeah, fast forward few years
(a lot of years really, haha),
here we are.
Living life and loving it.
Every now and then,
we still get questions from friends and family (mostly)
–
how is it that we have made such a turn in our lives from studying Architecture
and doing whatever it is we are doing now?
Life can never be a straight line,
sometimes it’s curvy,
sometimes it’s elongated
and
sometimes you hit a crossroad
–
that it became diverted.
Seeing a lot of Architecturally educated individuals online
–
living life in whatever they choose to pursue,
makes us realized that hey,
isn’t this a worthy story to tell?
Isn’t it our social responsibility to get everyone to realize that what is most important in life is to just be happy, to be doing what you love best?
You know, Steve Jobs once said
–
And then,
there comes this really looked forward biennial event
–
TEKNIK by @neueartisans.
We were stoked,
we know this is it.
This is our time to make this real,
to move forward in advocating that life isn’t a template
–
if mid-way you realized that you will be happier doing something else,
go ahead,
move on and pursue your happiness.
-
We know it is time for
to make its debut.
-
We have always admired few individuals who started of being an Architecture student once upon a time and seeing them making it bigger over time doing things they love now.
We know they could help make our story better.
It was very kind of the 9 of them to spare a little bit of their time to answer our FAQ’s
–
our favourite is always –
We thank all of them for their life story, we thank @neueartisans for having us
–
for allowing us to have our own mini showcase within their showcase
and we thank mostly you,
who enjoyed our story and had fun talking to all of you.
May this first gig be a start to many more gigs in 2019.
We are here to remind you that hey,
it’s okay,
you can choose whoever
or
whatever it is you want to be
–
as long you are happy.
Remember, its’s a pursuit of our happiness
–
not anyone else’s.
Our happiness.
Oh,
eh lupa pula,
so our mak marah sikit je,
marah dalam hati mungkin?
Haha, tak tak.
Eh, mak, marah ke?
